The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical or tenure track (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in Medical Oncology. The final track will be offered based on the qualifications and preferences of the successful candidate.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary oncology team within the Animal Cancer Care & Research Center (ACCRC), part of the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute’s biomedical research complex in Roanoke, VA. The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team that includes a medical oncology hospitalist, two radiation oncologists, one surgical oncologist (with a second position in negotiation), and specialty interns.
Advanced Facilities & Technology:
The ACCRC is equipped with a USP800-compliant chemotherapy suite, a 64-slice CT scanner (Siemens SOMATOM Confidence), digital radiography, ultrasonography, three modern operating rooms, and a state-of-the-art Varian Edge linear accelerator. Additional resources include a small animal (rodent) PET/CT and PET/MRI, with a Siemens Magnetom Prisma 3T MRI coming soon for clinical use.

Opportunities/Responsibilities:
• Grow the clinical service with an emphasis on integrated clinical care, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncology.
• Consult with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg and outside referring veterinarians.
• Participate in continuing education programs of the College and faculty governance activities.
• Maintain excellence in patient management, client service, and clinical teaching.
• Provide didactic and clinical instruction for DVM students, interns, residents, and graduate students.
• Engage in collaborative and translational research involving veterinary and human medical professionals. Research responsibilities will vary based on the interest and qualifications of the candidate.
