The Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise (HNFE) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a full-time, tenure-track, 9-month appointment with primary responsibilities in research (60%) and teaching (40%). The successful candidate will build and lead a vibrant, externally funded independent research program that is recognized for scientific excellence, serve as an effective mentor to undergraduate and graduate students, and provide high-quality instruction. Demonstrated collaboration as a member of an interdisciplinary team is essential, in addition to strong communication and interpersonal skills.
We are seeking candidates who will engage in transformative translational research that advances human health and well-being. The successful candidate will have formal training and a strong publication record within dissemination and implementation science, with an emphasis on behavioral and community applications within nutrition and/or exercise science/kinesiology. Research concentrations may include, but are not limited to: designing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral and community-based nutrition and/or exercise science/kinesiology interventions utilizing dissemination and implementation techniques; assessing the adoption of evidence-based programs in different settings; and exploring the dissemination and uptake of research findings by communities, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the public.
HNFE's unique integration of nutrition, foods, and exercise science positions us to advance knowledge in education, prevention, research, and translational studies. Collaborative interactions among faculty are strong and span from cells to society.
The position will be located on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia.
PhD with a focus on dissemination and implementation science or related field of study by appointment start date, with an emphasis on behavioral and community applications in nutrition and/or exercise science; A record of demonstrated potential for extramural grant support; Publication record in dissemination and implementation science research; Research training or experience in dissemination and implementation science; Demonstrated collaboration as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated teaching experience.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
Position requires occasional travel to attend conferences and meetings.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
