Job Summary: |
The Arizona State Hospital (ASH) uses Tableau and other visual analytics as important tools for data visualization to enable data-driven decision-making in both hospital operations and improving direct patient care. Tableau dashboards have been used extensively to answer complicated business questions, share data with the public, provide up-to-date information to leadership and decision-makers, and share analyses and visualizations with oversight and partner agencies and entities.
This position will work with program areas throughout the hospital to develop new, high-quality Tableau data dashboards that meet the needs of programs and leadership including; Nursing, Medical, Quality, Compliance, Security, Informatics, Specialty Clinic, Training and Education, Hospital Administration.
This position will be responsible to:
- Working closely with Information Technology (IT) teams and agency/project staff, identifies business intelligence (BI), reporting,
and data analysis needs for an assigned agency/organization to turn data into information and knowledge to make sound business
decisions
- Assists in determining business requirements, priorities, feasibility assessments, use cases, user acceptance testing (UAT) plans;
defines key performance indicators (KPIs); develops, designs, and documents workflows, dashboards, alerts, reports, user guides,
and other BI-related information/data
Job Duties: |
Works on low to medium complexity tasks within one or more functional areas. Uses Tableau to develop dashboards to assist in analyzing issues, applying best practices in data analytics and visualization and verifying that standards for quality and confidentiality are met.
Partners with internal and external customers to gather and validate business requirements in support of Tableau dashboard design and functionality.
Participates in and supports work planning processes for creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards and Tableau server content in an effective and efficient way.
Assists in designing, developing, and delivering end-user training and associated resource materials for Tableau developers or other agency program staff. May train clients in the use of BI solutions to enhance decision-making capability.
Researches business issues and assists in designing models that aid in analyzing issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): |
Knowledge of:
- Current Tableau Desktop functionality;
- Business operations, methods, and practices; workflow engineering;
- Strategies and best practices for effective data visualization;
- Applicable laws, rules, policies regarding security, privacy, and management of confidential data;
- Statistical and business analysis.
- IT lifecycle and information system design;
- Qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring program/project efficacy;
- Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
Skill in:
- Developing effective Tableau dashboards and providing technical assistance for dashboard development to business partners;
- Effectively utilizing data collection, research, and analysis methodologies;
- Communicating complex information to non- technical audiences;

Selective Preference(s): |
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field that works with data analytics. Tableau certification (Certified Associate or Certified Professional) or equivalent training experience is preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience working with health, financial, and HR data.
