  • Full-time (36.25 hours per week), 2 year fixed-term appointment

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in supporting high-quality clinical trial research. In this role, you will ensure all laboratory activities are conducted in line with ICH/Good Clinical Practice, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), UniSC Clinical Trials standard operating procedures, and all relevant regulations and ethics requirements. With a strong focus on accuracy, compliance and quality, you will help deliver laboratory processes that meet Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) approved protocols and contribute to the successful delivery of clinical trials.

Please note, this role requires flexibility to travel to different clinical trial sites, and to work outside standard business hours to support confinement studies and other time-sensitive trial activities. You may also be required to participate in a 24/7 on-call or confinement roster.

You will

  • Support the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Trials Coordinator with the management of laboratory samples collected, processed, and shipped for trials conducted at UniSC Clinical Trials (UniSC CT);  and
  • Work collaboratively with the UniSC CT team, sponsors, and monitors to ensure appropriate and timely management of all trial protocol nominated laboratory samples.  

About you

You have a strong grasp of ICH Good Clinical Practice and Good Laboratory Practice, with proven experience ensuring compliance with regulations. Skilled in using databases, electronic data entry systems, and standard office software, you adapt quickly and make an immediate impact in clinical trial laboratories or similar settings. You work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams, thriving in collaborative environments while bringing a proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused approach.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a Degree qualification in Health Science/Bio-Medical Science and relevant laboratory experience – or a combination of relevant work experience and education/training; 
  • Knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice/ Good Laboratory Practice and applicable regulations;
  • High level computing skills (including databases, clinical trial electronic data entry, word processing and spreadsheets);  
  • Previous experience in a clinical trial laboratory role/setting will be highly regarded; 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; and
  • Current Safe Transport Infectious Substances by Air certification highly regarded.
