Join Suncorp’s Data Engineering team as a Senior Data Engineer, where you’ll take the lead on delivering and maintaining high-quality, scalable data assets that support our insurance regulatory reporting needs. This is an opportunity to build meaningful data solutions, work with a collaborative team, and shape how we deliver insights in a modern cloud environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build and maintain data assets using Oracle PL/SQL, and expand to other platforms as needed
  • Lead solution design, data modelling, estimation, and performance optimisation
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment practices (e.g. Jenkins, Git)
  • Contribute to and champion best practices in data engineering, especially in regulatory reporting
  • Translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Drive innovation by continuously improving engineering practices and mentoring peers
  • Support deployment, release, and on-call activities in a fast-paced environment

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with strong SQL, PL/SQL, Unix scripting, and Python skills
  • Deep expertise with Oracle and understanding of relational and MPP databases
  • Experience with AWS Redshift, Databricks, or similar platforms (desirable)
  • Proven ability to deliver reliable, scalable data pipelines and troubleshoot complex issues
  • Experience in data integration, ELT frameworks, and automated testing tools
  • Strong collaboration, mentoring, and communication skills, with a drive for continuous improvement
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
