About the Role
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst within Commercial Valuations, you will provide actuarial, analytical and technical expertise that supports valuation, forecasting and business planning outcomes. Working closely with the Appointed Actuary team, you will contribute to robust reporting, evolving platforms and strong decision‑making across the business.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver half‑yearly commercial valuations, supplementary analysis, and reporting that supports financial and regulatory requirements.
- Develop forecasting, budgeting and business planning analysis to inform prospective profitability and portfolio performance.
- Prepare, validate and analyse data, ensuring outputs are accurate, well‑documented and suitable for senior review.
- Design, review and assess actuarial models and valuation methodologies to ensure results are appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Communicate insights and outcomes clearly to stakeholders including Finance, Pricing, Claims, Reinsurance and external auditors.
- Support continuous improvement by contributing to new processes, reporting enhancements and platform transitions.
What You’ll Bring
- A strong bachelor degree with a significant mathematical or statistical component, paired with progress towards Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
- More than three years’ experience working in a general insurance actuarial role, applying valuation or analytical expertise in practice.
- Strong capability in spreadsheet modelling, with experience using Excel and data tools such as SQL or SAS to support analysis.
- Well‑developed analytical thinking, with the ability to assess context, challenge assumptions and interpret results.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, applied when documenting work and presenting insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, working effectively across teams to deliver shared outcomes.
