We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our Commercial and Rural Insurance team at Vero Insurance. This role will focus on managing and growing a portfolio of intermediaries, driving sales revenue, and delivering excellent service and support.
You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities within the Commercial and Rural general insurance portfolios, managing major renewals, and ensuring profitable growth through strong intermediary relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, retain, and manage a portfolio of intermediaries to achieve targeted growth, retention, and profitability year on year.
- Drive sales revenue from intermediated business while providing excellent support and service to intermediaries.
- Build and maintain meaningful, quality business relationships by offering extensive knowledge of Vero Insurance products and services.
- Source and secure new business development opportunities aligned with the regional sales strategy.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including Claims, Operations, Insurance Solutions, and Distribution to ensure seamless support and service.
- Utilise underwriting guidelines to assess and accept risks, enabling profitable business growth and customer-focused insurance solutions.
- Support digital platform adoption and straight-through processing to enhance broker efficiency.
- Contribute to ongoing learning and development within the Distribution team to maintain market-leading insurance knowledge.
- Maintain a strong local office presence, supporting Vero’s brand and leadership in key market segments.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial general insurance and sales relationship management.
- ANZIIF Senior Associate CIP or Diploma in Financial Services desired.
- Strong understanding of the commercial insurance market, underwriting, and broker landscape.
- Proven advanced relationship management skills with the ability to influence and motivate stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Commercial acumen, understanding medium to large business operations is highly desirable.
