Overview of the role

This is a fantastic time to be joining Suncorp as the industry goes through significant change. As a result, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Business Analyst to support the establishment and ongoing operations of our new FinOps Centre of Excellence (CoE). This role will play a key part in driving cloud financial accountability and operational efficiency across the organisation.

You will have the opportunity to join our large Analysis Chapter that supports a variety of medium to large scale programs across the Suncorp Group. The Chapter consists of around 280 like-minded analysts, where ideas and best practice are shared via masterclasses and knowledge sharing. You will support projects being delivered in a continuous delivery model (Agile) and supporting the platform.

 What you’ll do:

• Build strong relationships through engagement with colleagues, and stakeholders across Business and Technology.
• Document current and future state processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Use information gathering techniques to proactively discover requirements and synthesise information accurately, completely, and coherently.
• Work collaboratively with delivery teams and business stakeholders to gather, validate and document business requirements and develop recommendations and solutions that meet business and customer needs.
• Raise, and support mitigation and resolution of, risks and issues using established tools and frameworks were applicable.
• Create detailed user stories (in JIRA) to support delivery.
• Mentor/train team members; participate and contribute to business analyst chapter and/or forums providing insights and thought leadership
• Suncorp offers a hybrid way of working where you will be expected to be in the office approx. 2 days per week.

What you’ll bring:

• FinOps Knowledge: Experience or certification in FinOps practices is highly desirable
• Cloud & Container Technologies: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or containerisation technologies
• Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles and experience working in finance-related roles or environments.
• Minimum 5 years Business Analysis experience in a project/delivery orientated role, from a large organisation.
• Minimum 3 years’ Agile, Lean and waterfall experience including knowledge of Agile practices, workshops, and Agile ceremonies facilitation.
• Must be able to translate and understand business and technical requirements and provide appropriate alternatives and solutions to meet those requirements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management and influencing skills including experience in dealing with various stakeholders.
• Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to learn and desire to make a difference.
• Must be able to manage multiple complex initiatives with competing deadlines.
