We are looking for an Assistant Underwriter for our SME and Platform team to cover a period of parental leave and contribute to the property and reinsurance activities within the Commercial Underwriting and market pricing centre of excellence.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• QA & Compliance: Ensuring timely and accurate monthly reporting on TUQA and underwriting audits.
• Risk Management: Effectively underwrite business insurance, including risk selection, and authorisations.
• Reinsurance: Assisting with the smooth administration of facultative reinsurance programs.
• Customer Focus: Drive value for commercial customers and business partners, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
• Digital Focus: Manage digital partner referrals, analyse trends, and drive system improvements to maximize business value.
• Innovation: Support digitisation and automation initiatives.

What you will need to succeed:

• 3+ years industry experience in a commercial underwriting role
• Strong understanding of the NZ commercial sector
• Exemplary customer focus
• Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict
• Innovation skills, consultation, influencing and negotiation capability
