About the Role

We currently have two newly created full time Senior Safety Advisors, one for our Major Capital Delivery team, and one for our Service Delivery team. These roles our within our dynamic and expanding Health, Safety and Environment Team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Safety Service Delivery these pivotal roles will be ‘boots on the ground’ and responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all personnel on some of Melbourne’s large-scale complex water infrastructure construction and service delivery projects across the organisation.

This role requires extensive experience in managing high-risk activities, conducting site investigations, and building strong stakeholder relationships. The Advisor will support the operational delivery of safety strategies, mentor project managers, and provide expert safety guidance across the Major Capital Delivery team.

About you:

  • Extensive experience across Major Infrastructure Projects, Construction, Rail or Heavy Industrial environments within Tier 1 organisations
  • Extensive experience in the identification of high risk activities
  • Minimum diploma level qualifications in safety, engineering or risk management or equivalent operational or technical experience
  • Provide advice, guidance and coaching to support the implementation of H&S requirements
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Support Project Managers to create a strong and healthy safety culture that ensures our people and contractors go home safely every day.
  • Sound judgment and problem solving skills and decision making skills
  • Valid Victoria Driver’s License and flexibility to travel across our multiple Melbourne Water sites
  • AusCheck is required for this role.

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.

Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck.  This role is deemed critical, and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
