Underground Electrician.

Reporting to the Underground Maintenance Electrical Supervisor, you will support the delivery of safety and productions targets of MMG Dugald River Mine Underground Operations. You will ensure statutory compliance in maintaining and installation of the underground electrical infrastructure whilst providing a safe working culture.   

This role will be based on an 8/7 and 7/6 (Days and Nights) roster on a BIBO from Cloncurry or Mt Isa districts or FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

Qualifications, skills & competencies

• Strong safety leadership with solid knowledge of underground mining electrical infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, and HV/LV distribution systems.
• Proven problem-solving and electrical fault-finding skills, along with clear communication across teams and stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience in underground metalliferous operations, including substation (RMU) maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Practical knowledge of dewatering systems (both primary and secondary), as well as installation and maintenance of industrial networks (ethernet/WiFi) in an underground setting.
• Familiarity with Sandvik production and development drills, including breakdown support and maintenance, plus experience working with Sandvik AutoMine systems.
• Current QLD Electrical Mechanic trade qualification and valid C Class Driver’s Licence

Responsibilities include:

• Providing breakdown support to the team, working closely with the Underground Electrical Supervisor to resolve issues safely and efficiently.
• Assisting with and contributing to shutdown planning for both underground fixed and mobile electrical assets.
• Ensuring all scheduled electrical maintenance and planned activities are completed on time and to standard, minimising downtime and supporting production targets.
• Carrying out installation and maintenance of both HV and LV underground electrical systems, as well as underground automation systems.
• Supporting the team with general and ad-hoc electrical duties as required, aligned with the expectations of your role and direction from your supervisor.
