Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017. 

The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition. 

Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.

Engineer – Mine Planning

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for experienced and ambitious Mining Engineer to join our team at Dugald River Mine.   

Reporting to the Senior Mine Planning Engineer, you will aim ensure production activities are supported with appropriate plans and subsequent reports in alignment with the delivery of development and production targets.

This role will be based on an 8/6 roster, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mount Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane.

Qualifications, Competencies & knowledge:

To be successful in this role, you will be a strong performer with the ability to lead through positive actions taking initiative in the planning processes to identify business risks and opportunities. You will have great ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all levels; while having strong Underground mining experience with a practical understanding of underground drainage, power, air, water, ventilation and backfill techniques.

• Minimum of 2 years underground metalliferous mining experience
• Strong technical experience, especially in short term planning and design work
• Initiative to identify improvements, and be adaptive to new processes, systems 
• Practical underground experience will be well regarded.
• Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering (Essential).
• Queensland Explosives Security Clearance (QESC) (Essential).
• Manual Drivers license.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Deswik software, Deswick Ops, MDM is beneficial.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Completion of appropriate, accurate and timely mine designs and 13 Wk rolling plans with consideration to LOM, operational requirements & infrastructure planning  
• Assist with budget preparation, forecasts, scenario planning & compliance reporting
• Liaise with stakeholders on plans, schedules and reporting requirements
• Ability to analyse and solve complex problems.

• Provide support for business improvement initiatives & undertaking planning in accordance with budget and forecast requirements.

• Consistently demonstrate behaviours that align with MMG Values and Code of Conduct.
