Your Impact

This is an exciting opportunity for a Utilities Manager to join our Yatala Brewery. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of site utilities, including the Engine Room, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and General Buildings and Grounds.

You will also act as the site's Energy and Fluids Custodian, driving operational excellence, managing continuous 24/7 services, leading a high-performing team, and championing sustainability initiatives to support our business’s future growth.

 

Please note: This role is a 4-month secondment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Support the Brewery to achieve operational objectives by leading the following key areas:

  • Manage safe and continuous supply of critical services including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, CO₂, and wastewater treatment.
  • Ensure effective operation and maintenance of utilities and site infrastructure, managing both day-to-day and long-term strategic needs.
  • Lead and develop a team of Utilities Operators, Chemical Store person, Planner/Controller, Engineering Intern, and onsite trades.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardise work processes across the Utilities function in line with the Asahi Way.
  • Manage site energy and trade waste budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring financial performance aligns with forecasts.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, environment, and quality standards, championing a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Actively contribute to capital planning and the management of contractors and suppliers.
  • Play a key leadership role in the site's Emergency Management and Sustainability programs.

Additionally, you possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in Reliability Engineering, Refrigeration, Steam Systems, and Utilities Operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing significant operational budgets.
  • Strong interpersonal, contractor management, and employee relations skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement practices and CMMS systems.
