The Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society (ARCSHS) is a leading research and knowledge translation centre housed in the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University. Founded in 1993, the Centre has expertise in the areas of sex and sexual health, gender and sexuality, family violence, and alcohol and other drug consumption, as well as numerous other aligned topics. ARCSHS also has extensive experience developing the capability of health and human services to integrate evidence into practice.
The Centre’s purpose is to create and translate knowledge that enables inclusion, equity, health and wellbeing, particularly as they relate to sex, gender, sexuality and relationships. Through research and knowledge translation work, ARCSHS supports better understandings of, and solutions for, social problems facing communities in Australia and the world today.
The position of Research Officer will be responsible for providing support across a number of research projects, including Private Lives, Australia’s leading and largest national survey of the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ adults and a Medical Research Future Fund project exploring LGBTIQ+ inclusive practices in residential aged care settings.
Skills and experience
To be considered for this position you will have:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification or research experience.
- Evidence of experience in research and evaluation and the ability to work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
- A record of contribution to publications, conference papers and/or reports, or professional or technical contributions which provide evidence of research potential.
- Experience in LGBTIQA+ population health and wellbeing research.
- Quantitative data analysis and management skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
