The Logistics Manager Vic/Tas is responsible for overseeing the Victorian and Tasmanian Logistics and Supply Chain Operations for the Boral Cement business. Based in Somerton and Port Melbourne, this role has responsibility to safely, effectively and efficiently manage fleet as well as company drivers, subcontractors and hauliers to deliver products to our customers while maintaining safe and regulatory compliant on-road activity and depot operation. Reporting to the Mobile Asset Manager Cement, this role also includes exposure to isotainer transport, rail and shipping activity into Tasmania. 

Your day will involve:

  • Provide leadership and support to the team related to Operations Safety on Boral and Customer sites and CoR Compliance
  • Provide support and knowledge to the Supervisors and Depot staff to assist them in managing their fleet to an optimum level, while also leading such people processes as succession planning and mentoring Supervisors and direct reports
  • Manage HR/IR issues with support from functional leads, ensuring compliance with relevant EBAs and employment-based legislation
  • Fleet Management and Workshop / Maintenance of capital assets including 100 Heavy Vehicle assets
  • Compliance with capital program
  • Utilisation and Productivity Management
  • Reviewing cost and cost management 
  • Contract negotiations and management
  • Financial reporting/management with Asset Manager and Finance
  • Customer relationship management with Boral Concrete and External Customers as well as with subcontractors and rail providers   
  • Lead the management, coordination and delivery of high value standardisation within the Customer Service and allocations teams by developing, implementing and refining SOP’s for allocations roles.

What are we looking for?

  • Relevant industry experience in supply chain/logistics and fleet management, with understanding of relevant heavy vehicles and equipment
  • Suitable tertiary qualification in supply chain, road logistics or inter-modal transport
  • Track record in cost management, business improvement and project management
  • Strong customer focus.
