An opportunity exists for an integral role within Boral’s Cement Plant at our Maldon site located in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Boral’s prized upstream cement business is an important supplier for our downstream businesses and external customers. This role will report to the General Manager Maldon and Marulan Lime and will manage a team of mechanical team members. The main focus of this position is to plan and coordinate the Maldon Works’ mechanical engineering and plant maintenance activities to ensure the availability and reliability of plant and equipment to meet forecast production volume and mix requirements.

Your day will involve:

  • Drives Zero Harm through frontline leadership and by ensuring plant, equipment and engineering and maintenance activities comply with statutory requirements.
  • Lead, coach and mentor employees ensuring appropriate training and development.
  • Contribute to the development and manage the implementation of appropriate and cost effective mechanical maintenance and engineering initiatives and programmes to ensure the availability and reliability of mechanical engineering and maintenance activities to meet current and future site requirements.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of mechanical engineering and maintenance processes by developing, implementing and monitoring compliance with and reviewing the effectiveness of standards, work plans, systems and procedures.
  • Development and implementation of relevant engineering modification and/or improvement projects to ensure that Maldon Work’s plant, equipment and engineering and maintenance activities meet statutory and Corporate, legal, safety and environmental standards policies.
  • Contribute to development of plant asset care strategies & implementation of TPM.
  • Contributes to asset criticality and FMEA processes.
  • Assist in the achievement of desired financial targets by managing nominated mechanical engineering, maintenance, capital works and related projects on time and within approved budget limits and by controlling departmental expenses.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated heavy industry experience in the Construction, Mining and/or Manufacturing Industry, ideally within Cement manufacturing
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not essential
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required as a minimum
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance development, major shutdowns and project management
  • CMMS knowledge and experience
  • A team player with a strong safety focus
  • Demonstrated team leadership ability to develop effective working relationships with all people, and to lead and influence.
