We are seeking a Supply Chain Application Engineer to join the team supporting Supply Chain applications across the entire Boral business. This critical role is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of supply chain systems used across the construction industry, specifically within the Concrete, Cement, Quarries, Asphalt and recycling business units. Reporting to the Supply Chain Applications Lead, this role plays a critical part in ensuring operational continuity and system performance for applications supporting logistics, batching, order management, dispatch, inventory, and transport planning.
Working closely with supply chain teams, plant operators, IT support teams, and external vendors, the engineer provides Level 2/3 technical support, manages incidents and requests, and supports ongoing system improvements.
Your day will involve:
- Provide technical support for key supply chain applications, including order management, concrete batching systems, transport logistics, weighbridge software, and quarry management platforms.
- Investigate and resolve incidents and service requests, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.
- Work closely with business users (e.g., batchers, allocators, plant managers, logistics coordinators) to identify system issues and deliver practical solutions.
- Perform root cause analysis and document resolutions for recurring issues.
- Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring proactive detection and resolution of potential disruptions.
- Support integration between systems (e.g critical applications, telematics, and dispatch platforms).
- Assist with patching, system updates, testing, and deployment of enhancements or new modules.
- Maintain and update technical and end-user documentation.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal developers to escalate and resolve application bugs or configuration issues.
- Participate in project deployments, including testing and cutover support for new plant implementations or system rollouts.
- Ensure all support activities follow ITIL best practices and are tracked through service management tools
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated experience in IT application support or technical support roles, with a focus on supply chain or operations systems.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes in construction, including batching, delivery scheduling, transport dispatch, and stockpile management.
- Hands-on experience supporting industry-relevant systems such as COMMANDbatch, Command Alkon, Command Apex or similar.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and how they integrate with supply chain tools.
- Technical troubleshooting skills across Windows environments, databases (SQL), and application integrations.
- Familiarity with GPS, telematics, and transport planning tools (e.g., EROAD, HERE Maps, Syncrotess) is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users in plant and field environments.
- Strong documentation and incident management skills.
- Previous experience in the construction, manufacturing, logistics, or heavy industry sectors is highly regarded.
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
