The Opportunity: 

Based in Baulkham Hills, we are looking for a responsible and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Laboratory Technician working within our Concrete & Quarries Section.  Working as part of a team, this role reports directly to the appropriate Section Head and indirectly to the Laboratory Manager.  Duties involve undertaking sampling of construction materials, preparation of test samples, testing and physical analysis of these samples, reporting of test results and maintenance of records.

Your duties: 

• Conduct testing on quarry and recycled material accordance with laboratory work instructions, AS and RMS test methods, preparation instructions and manuals.
• Prescribed calibrations and checks of laboratory test equipment.
• Maintain, observe, and participate in the statutory Safety requirements of the Laboratory.
• Maintenance of the Laboratory NATA accreditation requirements.
• Other duties as directed by the Section Head and Laboratory Manager.

About you? 

• A commitment to safety and quality
• Previous concrete and/or aggregate laboratory testing is desirable
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in science or another relevant discipline such as Civil, Chemical or Materials is desirable but not essential
• Well-developed skills and understanding of computer systems for monitoring and reporting of data such as QestLab
• Good time management and organisational skills
• An ability to cope with competing priorities and deadlines
• Knowledge of Australian and Industry testing standards
• Strong analytical skills and a customer focus
