Based in Ormeau on the Gold Coast, we are looking for a reliable Laboratory Technician to service our Quarries business.

As part of a small team, this role reports directly to the Quarry Manager. Duties involve undertaking sampling of construction materials, preparation of test samples, testing and physical analysis of these samples, reporting of test results and maintenance of records.

Your day will involve:
  • Perform routine and compliance testing of quarry materials in accordance with NATA-accredited test methods, Australian Standards, and project specifications.
  • Follow Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure products meet specification and traceability requirements for source verification and supply compliance.
  • Maintain accurate testing records, reports and sample controls in line with NATA quality system requirements.
  • Assist with research and development (R&D) testing, including trial mixes, alternative materials, process optimisation and new product development.
  • Manage quarry product and stockpile certification, including lot tracking, test validity, and coordination with production teams.
  • Liaise closely with weighbridge operators, quarry production staff, and technical teams to ensure correct material dispatch and certification alignment.
  • Identify and report non-conformances, assist with investigations, and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration status, housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Comply with all site WHS, environmental and quality management system requirements.
What we are looking for:
  • Experience in quarry, construction materials or civil materials testing.
  • Working knowledge of NATA accreditation requirements and Australian test standards (e.g. aggregates, roadbase, sands).
  • Ability to follow ITPs, specifications and documented procedures with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound record-keeping skills.
  • Effective communication skills for working with operations, weighbridge, and technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Current drivers licence
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Certificate III/IV in Laboratory Techniques, Civil Construction, or similar (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Current competency or training in relevant materials testing methods.
