We have an opportunity for an Environment Business Partner to join our Victoria and Tasmanian team. Reporting to the Senior Environment Business Partner, this role provides strategic leadership and specialist technical support to strengthen Boral’s environmental culture, capability and overall performance. Working closely with Operational Leaders, Site Managers and key support functions, this individual will be accountable for embedding proactive, risk‑based environmental management across operations. This role supports the business to understand obligations, anticipate emerging risks and apply consistent standards that align with Boral’s vision, values and operating model.
The Environmental Business Partner supports the implementation of environmental compliance initiatives, risk‑mitigation measures and performance‑improvement programs. The role builds capability within operational teams, enhances accountability for environmental outcomes, and promotes continuous improvement to ensure Boral delivers responsible, compliant and sustainable environmental performance across all activities.
Your day will involve:
Leadership and Engagement
- Provide support to the Senior Environmental Business Partner, Operations personnel and other relevant functions to enable agreed environmental outcomes for the Business.
Governance and Assurance
- Provide regular updates to Operations Teams on the progress of continuous improvement, assurance and compliance activities conducted.
Strategy
- Assist in development, review and delivery of the environmental strategy and improvement plans for the Vic/Tas businesses.
Systems and Programs
- Undertake and support Environmental Permit Planner (EPP) verifications and environmental aspects and impacts register reviews on site, ensuring EPPs are maintained in accordance with procedures and are kept current.
- Provide specialist environmental advice, coaching and training, including supporting site personnel with sourcing and providing relevant legislative/regulatory information.
- Support operations leaders with environmental systems and reporting requirements to facilitate learning and related compliance requirements.
- Monitor the closeout of Environment actions as a result of the Audit and Assurance program.
- Provide assistance in implementing environmental operating conditions and updating site environmental managemental plans and/or approvals where required.
Reporting & Analytics
- Provide information as required to meet reporting obligations to the Senior Environmental Business Partner and the Central Environmental team
- Ensure all monitoring data is reviewed, analysed, filed and reported both internally and externally within the required timeframes.
Regulatory Liaison & Reporting
- Facilitate regulator engagement and responses for serious incidents or issues as required including facilitating regulatory reporting requirements, e.g., incidents, annual returns, annual reviews, NPI
Incident Management
- Facilitate the reporting, investigation and management of environmental incidents and complaints in accordance with relevant procedures.
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated environmental experience with heavy industry (construction preferred) or regulator
- Proven track record of implementing functional support in a complex environment.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, systems and processes
- Knowledge and ability in the use of Environmental Management Systems
- Credibility and authority to contribute to Regional and Operational Management Teams
