We have a career building opportunity for a self-driven and hands on Process Engineer to join our Cement division and be based at our Berrima Cement Works. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for providing process engineering technical support for critical operational improvement projects (e.g. Safety, Dust, Emission, Customer).

The position has the primary responsibility for driving manufacturing performance improvements for Boral Cement Berrima. Additionally, the role requires providing Leadership in Safety, Environment, Quality to develop people and continuously improve the process along with all other areas of manufacturing within Boral Cement Berrima operation.

Your day will involve:

• Provide process engineering technical support for critical operational improvement projects (e.g. Safety, Dust, Emission, Customer)
• Working within the plant to ensure fuel combustion is at optimum rates and benefits from the alternative fuel program is fully achieved
• Identify opportunities, provide feasibility study and change management to progress with plant automation and advanced control of the process including artificial intelligence (AI, PXP, Fuzzy, QCX, PLC etc)
• Aid in problem solving and plant improvements by thorough investigation of plant faults, accurate reporting and completion of appropriate Reports
• Develop and deliver operator training
• Ensure plant and process compliance under Environmental Legislation
• Assist with project work e.g. Continuous improvement, Plant upgrades.

What are we looking for?

• Engineering qualifications with demonstrated experience as a Process Engineer within a cement/lime processing manufacturing process or heavy industry is desirable
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Strong knowledge of process control methods and statistical methods for troubleshooting
• Demonstrable advanced level of competence in Excel in terms of undertaking data analysis and carrying out optimisation analysis
• Ability to assist the development of production operators to enhance the effectiveness of the process.
• Good knowledge of project management and key business tracking tools
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple work streams simultaneously
• Excellent reporting writing and presentation, communication skills.
