Reporting to the Newcastle Area Manager, this role will play a key part in growing Boral Asphalt's presence across Northern NSW. Working closely with operational teams across Newcastle, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour, you will be responsible for identifying tender opportunities, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, maintaining tender pipelines, and helping secure profitable work across local government, state government and civil contracting projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator or an asphalt/civil construction professional looking to transition into an estimating role. You'll work on a diverse range of projects, from council resurfacing programs through to major infrastructure projects such as the Coffs Harbour Bypass, while helping strengthen Boral's position within the region.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identifying and tracking tender opportunities through procurement platforms and industry networks
- Preparing accurate cost estimates, quotations, tender submissions and pricing proposals for asphalt and civil construction projects
- Maintaining and managing a tender tracker to ensure opportunities are effectively monitored and progressed
- Reviewing project specifications, drawings and contract documentation to assess scope, risks and pricing requirements
- Working closely with Operations teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project delivery requirements and operational capabilities
- Developing pricing strategies that support both business growth and profitability objectives
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, local councils, government agencies and civil contractors
- Supporting the growth of Boral's market presence across Newcastle, Dubbo, Coffs Harbour and the broader Northern NSW region
- Contributing to tender reviews, contract assessments and project handovers
What We're Looking For
- Experience in estimating, tendering or project engineering within asphalt, roads, civil construction, infrastructure or contracting environments
- Strong understanding of asphalt contracting and project delivery, or transferable experience from the broader civil construction industry
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and capable of managing priorities across multiple tender opportunities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using estimating systems (Benchmark experience advantageous but not essential)
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel across the region as required
