We are looking for a Quarry Operations Manager for our Regional Northern Quarries. Your remit will cover the operations in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Wide Bay, Toowoomba and Darwin. The role can be based in any practical QLD location. Regular travel across the portfolio is part of the job.

What you will be accountable for

  • Operational leadership across nine quarrying operations
  • Leading, coaching and developing the portfolio's Quarry Managers
  • Managing an approximately A$95 million regional P&L
  • Production, safety, cost, margin and operational performance outcomes
  • Fixed-plant and mobile equipment optimisation, so our assets stay safe, compliant, reliable and optimised
  • Developing business cases and leading operational input into capital projects
  • Identifying and prioritising replacement, continuity and growth investment
  • Long-term resource availability and operational continuity
  • Building greater consistency and standardisation across the regional network
  • Partnering with our finance, commercial, assets, logistics, property, sales and safety teams
  • Managing relationships with regulators, councils, communities and other stakeholders
  • Strong site visibility through regular regional travel

What you will bring

  • An open Site Senior Executive (SSE) notice, or the background and capability to obtain the required Queensland qualification quickly
  • Substantial operational leadership experience in quarrying, aggregates or a closely aligned environment
  • Previous responsibility for a large quarry or for multiple quarry operations
  • A deep understanding of safe, productive and commercially successful quarry operations
  • Strong financial literacy, with previous accountability for operational P&Ls, budgets and forecasts
  • Experience developing capital business cases and delivering complex operational or asset projects
  • Knowledge of fixed-plant optimisation, crushing operations, mobile equipment and resource development
  • A track record of leading experienced operational managers across multiple locations
  • Strong knowledge of quarry safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • The ability to read operational and financial data and turn it into decisive action
  • A proactive style and the confidence to take ownership without waiting for direction
  • The flexibility to travel regularly across Queensland and the Northern Territory
