The email marketing manager leads the enterprise management of key communications initiatives including email marketing, internal communications, and marketing automation. The email marketing manager is also responsible for the development and execution of email marketing campaigns and event promotions with duties including system administration, user training, email optimization, and campaign reporting. This position reports to the Senior CRM/Marketing Automation Manager.
Integrated Marketing Communications is directly tasked with supporting the University's mission and strategic plan by building brand equity, elevating the University's national reputation, providing strong and consistent institutional message leadership, and implementing effective integrated marketing and communication strategies.The email marketing manager fulfills a central role in helping the department accomplish its goals.
Duties
- Email Operations Lead enterprise email marketing strategy including, but not limited to, email campaign set-up, scheduling, testing, and deployment of one-time, recurring, triggered, and dynamic content-driven campaigns for recruitment, fundraising, event planning, and e-newsletters.
- Email Management Ensure client satisfaction through timely and accurate execution of all email marketing campaigns/projects, exceptional customer service, and frequent status communications.
- Email Administration Implement, coordinate, and provide user training for broadcast email systems for Pepperdine. Work with internal business unit clients to create and maintain email campaigns and communication calendars. Maintain content, data, journey development, and user roles within Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement. Perform quality control checks and document best practices to ensure superior work and maintain all Pepperdine brand guidelines. Maintain opt-in/opt-out policies, abiding by CAN-SPAM regulations. Manage relationships with email service providers. Troubleshoot technical issues related to HTML templates, list segmentation, and other aspects of email execution as needed.
- Marketing Automation Build email templates and journeys as needed to achieve efficient and reliable campaign strategies. Define business and data requirements for email campaign implementations. Optimize email programs through continual testing of creative, cadence, targeting, etc.
- Analytics and Reporting Produce and distribute performance reports and make strategic recommendations to improve results. Support targeted email traffic reporting using broadcast email analytics and Google Analytics. Run scheduled reports and log rotation schedules. Measure website user behaviors, develop reporting profiles, and integrate across multiple channels. Develop contact strategy, construct test plans, and perform data analysis on broadcast email initiatives. Manage relationships with email service providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Research Conduct research related to e-marketing trends and best practices. Stay current with web marketing trends and technologies in higher education.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 2-3 years of experience working with broadcast email and communication tools.
- Demonstrable knowledge of email best practices extending to targeting, creative messaging, CAN-SPAM compliance, responsive design, deliverability, A/B testing, and performance metrics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an ability to use data to develop and measure marketing programs and performance.
- Proficiency in reading and editing HTML, especially within an email building platform.
- Experience with web tools including Google Apps.
- Superior written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Strong organizational skills and exemplary attention to detail.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and with teams.
- Ability to think strategically and recommend communications strategies and tactics.
- Proficiency with Google Apps.
Preferred:
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Experience with interactive online community applications.
- Experience using Google Analytics.
- Experience with marketing automation and email campaigns.
- Experience in higher education communications, Adobe Creative Suite, and Workfront.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $68,640 - $69,202 per year
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
