Under the general direction of the Director of Student Services, the Manager of Student Success is responsible for the administration and execution of student success initiatives within the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at Pepperdine University’s Calabasas campus. Three foci define the primary responsibilities of the manager. First, the manager will lead CHS programs that focus on identifying academic and personal challenges affecting student progress, developing targeted strategies to address those challenges, and ensuring students remain on track to achieve their educational goals. Secondly, the manager will support all CHS programs in maintaining strong pass rates on national licensing exams to enable post-graduate student success, support enrollment goals, and promote the overall success of the CHS. Thirdly, in partnership with school/program deans and faculty, the manager will support academic success programming, as well as remediation programming, to ensure high completion (graduation) rates and minimize attrition.

The Manager of Student Success oversees the recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of academic coaches, tutors, and workshop facilitators, ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic support services. Additionally, the Manager of Student Success serves as the primary liaison to the Office of Student Accessibility, working to ensure that students with disabilities have equitable access to academic opportunities and campus resources.

The Manager of Student Success is responsible for ensuring that students in the College of Health Science meet the standards set by the accrediting, licensing, and regulatory bodies governing the operation and administration of all CHS academic programs. This includes supporting faculty in developing and implementing effective remediation plans/programs, preparing targeted academic support resources, and maintaining strong pass rates on the NCLEX-RN (nursing), Praxis (speech language pathology), and PANCE (physician assistant), and similar national licensing exams for future academic programs.

With its initial academic programs, nursing and speech language pathology, scheduled to begin in August 2025, the College of Health Science is early in its development. As needs arise, the Manager of Student Success must be adaptable and adept at responding to unexpected requests and responsibilities should they arise. Additionally, it is reasonable to expect that as the college grows and develops, the Manager of Student Success’ duties will evolve within the area of student services to meet program and college performance metrics and objectives and provide support for the college’s students, schools, and programs.
