The Prospect Research Analyst satisfies the information needs of the Advancement Division of the University by preparing profiles, verifying research data, providing proactive research, and analyzing data on individual constituents of interest to Pepperdine University.

Duties

  • Provide in-depth research and analysis of individual, corporate and foundation donors and prospects using a variety of sources, tools and techniques. 
  • Prepare written profiles, ratings, and qualified lists as necessary to support the strategic fundraising efforts of the University. Act as a strategic partner and pro-actively provide data informed recommendations regarding next steps to development officers.
  • Track research findings in Raiser's Edge and assist with organization-wide efforts to acquire and maintain institutional data according to best practices in data management in consultation with Advancement Services team. 
  • Maintain prospect research fields of data in the Raiser's Edge database. 
  • Keep up-to-date with effective prospect research and prospect management techniques as well as trends in the prospect research profession and the advancement/fundraising field. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • 0-2 years experience in prospect research, prospect management, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven attention to detail.
  • Awareness of the recommended skills, mission, and vision outlined by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience working in a CRM.
  • Familiarity with development databases and donor research tools such as Blackbaud ResearchPoint, Target Analytics, iWave, WealthX, LexisNexis, and other online prospect research platforms.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience with prospect research tools and/or experience with Raiser’s Edge or other Blackbaud products.
  • Experience as a member of industry-specific organizations like APRA or AASP.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $26.38 - $29.32 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
