The Assistant to the Office of the Dean, Seaver College provides essential support to the Seaver Dean’s Office, directly bringing to fruition the College’s and University’s response to the mission of academic excellence and community engagement. This position serves as the primary lead for all event-related tasks and duties within the Seaver College Dean’s Office, providing high-level administrative management and logistical oversight for signature college events and recurring faculty initiatives.
Duties
- Major Events Support: Support for signature Dean's events, including Commencement, Founder's Day, All Seaver Meetings, and David W. Baird Lecture Series.
- Faculty-focused Events Logistics: Manage logistics/catering for weekly faculty lunches, mentoring, Regents Scholars, Bridges seminars, and CTE events.
- Administrative Support: Reallocate and substantiate credit card charges. Coordinate travel. Process Change of Final Exam requests, Directed Studies, and Special Topics Forms.
- Academic Integrity: Assist the chair of the Academic Integrity Committee with correspondence and record keeping.
- Office Operations: Phone coverage, Graduation and Seaver Dean's email coverage, editing/proofreading.
- Assist with hiring, training, and onboarding student staff. Research and implement best business practices and office efficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Computer literacy; exceptional writing skills; high degree of attention to detail; ability to function under pressure; ability to work efficiently; overall concepts and applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Public relations skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of people; aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Time- and people-management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, PC or Mac, copier, phone.
Preferred:
- PeopleSoft student records training.
- Knowledge of Pepperdine.
- College or University office experience.
- Proficiency with PeopleSoft, Navigate, and Interfolio.
This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $23.07 - $25.00 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
