Pepperdine University’s College of Health Science (PCHS) is seeking an Admission Counselor for the School of Nursing (SON). This is a temporary, in-person, six-month position with the possibility of extension based on departmental needs and available funding. The counselor will primarily support the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, but also the Entry Level Master’s (ELM), Clinical Nurse Leader degree program.
The counselor will join a vibrant enrollment management team and contribute significantly to recruitment and admissions efforts for all SON degree offerings. The counselor position provides a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to two signature programs by recruiting and engaging prospective students and families, supporting admission events, conducting preadmission advising and transcript review for prospective students, managing admission records, and participating in shaping recruitment and enrollment strategy.
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of PCHS Enrollment Management, the counselor will help plan and execute the full admissions cycle, from outreach and application review to events and data management utilizing Slate, NursingCAS, and other systems. We’re seeking an articulate, mission-driven, relational professional who combines data-informed recruitment with personal guidance—and who aligns with Pepperdine’s Christian values and commitment to preparing healthcare leaders of purpose, service, and integrity.
Located on the Calabasas campus, the counselor will work collaboratively under the guidance of the PCHS Enrollment Management team, while also working collaboratively with the Seaver College Enrollment Management team.
Duties
- Support the admission process for the BSN and ELM programs.
- Focused primarily on the BSN program, the counselor will assist in recruiting undergraduate BSN students, both 4-year and 2-year (transfer) pathway programs.
- Engage in application review and initial decision making for the BSN program in coordination with the Seaver Enrollment Management colleagues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and provide comprehensive support for all BSN admission prospects by making calls, emailing, and face to face contact.
- Recruit BSN high school and transfer college students to apply for undergraduate admission to Pepperdine.
- Read and recommend admission decisions on BSN 4-year and 2-year applications during the fall and spring admission seasons.
- Correspond with prospective BSN applicants and their families concerning admission to Pepperdine, student life, spiritual life, and academics.
- Conduct preadvising and transcript review for the BSN 4-year and 2-year pathway undergraduate students and ELM graduate students.
- Understand and assist with advising and science GPA calculations for prospective undergraduate BSN students and graduate ELM students.
- Calculate science GPA's for BSN 4-year and 2-year pathway applicants and ELM graduate applicants.
- Complete Degree Audit Report (DAR) processes for admitted BSN and ELM students.
- Partner with IMC to review marketing materials and make suggestions for BSN and ELM recruitment promotional materials.
- Plan and support events including: BSN and ELM prospective student webinars, Malibu and Calabasas campus events, Admitted Waves Day, Pepperdine Preview Events, Admitted Student Receptions, etc.
- Participate in recruitment fairs and similar events at local community colleges and healthcare locations.
- Research other schools of nursing for best practices, conferences, and other opportunities for recruitment.
- Attend both PCHS and Seaver College admission and enrollment staff meetings.
- Create and provide reports to PCHS Enrollment Management Team as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar).
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize, and organize short and long-term tasks.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Preferred:
- 3+ years of higher education admissions experience.
- Knowledge of Slate and PeopleSoft Student System.
This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week, six month position from October 2026 - March 2027.
Expected Pay Range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level.
