The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water (DCCEEW) are seeking a proactive Assistant Project Officer to support the delivery of key initiatives within our IT Team. This is a hands-on support role suited to someone who enjoys variety, is proactive, and takes pride in getting the details right.
About the Role
As the Assistant Project Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of projects through a mix of administrative, coordination, and reporting tasks. Your responsibilities will include coordinating the onboarding of new team members, ensuring they have the IT systems, building access, and tools they need from day one. You will also manage secretariat duties for key meetings, such as scheduling, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on actions.
In addition, you will work closely with the project lead to assist in tracking project progress, maintaining documentation, and supporting communication with stakeholders. Your role will involve updating project records, preparing reports, and ensuring that project governance and administrative processes are followed consistently and accurately.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and professional approach to stakeholders
- Confidence using digital tools and systems to support project delivery and maintain accurate records
- Experience or a strong interest in project support, administration, or coordination
- Ability to follow established processes and consistently contribute to high-quality outcomes
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
Essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in projects involving the design, development and procurement of IT Infrastructure, systems or services
