Our Business Advisory team is currently seeking to appoint Business Advisor to support the delivery of the NSW Energy Rebates program and providing business and financial advisory services for this role’s assigned portfolio within the Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability Group.

The Group Finance division develops, manages and advises on systems, infrastructure, policies and standards for the department in the areas of finance, procurement and administration, asset management, information and communication technology.

 

About the role
The Business Advisor prepares management reports, budgets, and forecasts and provides advice and insights on complex work issues and other analytical support services to a range of stakeholders. The Business Advisor is also an expert user and supports the use of critical information systems and ensures the accuracy of systems and financial data to support business unit financial and business performance in line with corporate goals and Government objectives. The role also undertakes business analysis, process financial transactions and ensure the cost-effective fund administration of energy rebate schemes managed by DCCEEW.

 

About you

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate administrative processes to support the management of energy rebate program
  • funds, the allocation of funds to approved recipients and ensuring transactions are actioned in accordance with accounting standards as well as accepted governance and audit requirements
  • Validate and process payments to energy retailers for reimbursement of customer grants in a timely manner
  • Maintain financial and statistical reporting requirements of the energy rebate programs, reconcile financial and recipient records, and ensuring effective financial management, auditing and reporting mechanisms are in place to support good governance and audit protocols
  • Provide accurate and transparent scheduled and ad-hoc financial reporting and advice ensuring a timely response to Ministerial and departmental requests
  • Undertake research, consultation, analysis, monitoring and evaluation of relevant administrative systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support the monitoring and preparation of rebate budget data and submissions, including the annual budget, to ensure funding is allocated in alignment with corporate priorities and government objectives.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, including reconciliations and samples for the Audit Office in accordance with the Client Assistance Schedule and facilitate the audit process
  • Build the confidence and support of stakeholders, clients and peers to manage diverse and frequently urgent and competing business requests and demand deadlines in a complex, demanding environment of significant change.

 

Knowledge and experience

  • Eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
  • Demonstrated evidence of capability in managing complex data
  • Advanced MS Excel, and experience using financial systems such as SAP

 

Essential requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, business or commerce fields; experience and knowledge of financial and management accounting
