- Clerk Grade 9/10 – salary ranges from $129,464 - $142,665 plus superannuation
Our Climate Change and Strategy Division is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Policy & Project Officer to drive high-impact initiatives and shape strategic decision-making. Responsible for leading complex projects and delivering expert policy and legislative advice – you will be supporting NSW’s transition to a clean energy future!
About The Role
This role is responsible for leading end-to-end project management and policy development across a range of initiatives, with a focus on energy, climate change, and emissions reduction. It involves developing and implementing project plans, managing budgets and risks, and ensuring timely delivery of outcomes aligned with agency standards.
The position also provides high-level policy advice, prepares Ministerial and executive briefings, evaluates regulatory frameworks, and supports evidence-based decision-making. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and analytical skills are essential to drive continuous improvement and deliver impactful results.
About the Team
The National Energy and Climate Coordination team sits within the Energy Transition Policy Branch. We develop, analyse and coordinate policy advice and projects to advance NSW’s energy and climate change interests in intergovernmental forums. There is a particular focus on national energy market reform.
We are driven by providing outstanding advice and secretariat support to the Minister and Senior Executive, identifying solutions that work for both NSW and the nation. Our collaborative nature and drive help us to work across the NSW Government and with other jurisdictions to develop practical solutions.
About You
We are looking for a strategic thinker with proven experience in managing complex projects and developing impactful policy within a government context. You will:
- Be able to manage a range of projects simultaneously, to time manage and prioritise work
- Be able to contribute to the development and implementation of policy
- Have strong analytical skills, and provide clear, succinct, and evidence-based advice to support decision making
- Have strong written communication skills, and prepare high quality written material
- Have strong verbal communication skills, and establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication
- Be adaptable and willing to try new things.
Your deep understanding of contemporary policy issues and community expectations enables you to deliver high-quality advice and solutions. You’re confident managing budgets and project expenditure, and excel at building relationships with senior stakeholders to influence decisions and drive outcomes. With a collaborative mindset and a sharp eye for detail, you thrive in dynamic environments where your work makes a tangible difference.
