JOB SUMMARY:

The Discover Universal Team plays a critical role in driving deep engagement with our target audience through content and storytelling. As a Content Strategist for Discover Universal, this team member will be responsible for assisting the Senior Content Strategist with both content marketing strategy and execution, as well as pre-production, production, post-production, and promotional support. Additionally, they will own some existing series, acting as the project lead. A Content Strategist plays an integral part in helping to tell our brand story and engage our guests and fans worldwide.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Development and Execution:

  • Research episode topics and collect insights/input from business partners.
  • Track the status of projects in both Workfront and Airtable.
  • Assist with production planning, logistics, and all necessary preparations.
  • Participate in content brainstorms.
  • Plan and capture promotional content and additional channel assets (photos, social media micro-videos, graphics, etc.) often collaborating with creative partners and the Social Media team.
  • Navigate Legal and Intellectual Property compliance issues throughout the production process.
  • Watch episodes and make detailed strategic and creative feedback notes.
  • At times, connect with project partners to check in on timelines, notes, etc.
  • Obtain captions and subtitles for all video projects.
  • Write YouTube descriptions for episodes of DU shows.
  • Coordinate the launch of episodes.
  • Prepare content and publish across all video platforms.

Content Optimization:

  • Stay up to date on YouTube’s best practices and industry trends.
  • Act as one of the thought-leaders on YouTube channel strategy and best practices for the UDX business.
  • Update video titles, YouTube descriptions, thumbnails, banners, and other assets according to needs and best practices.
  • Contribute innovative ideas for future content and supporting promotional assets of Discover Universal Audio/Video projects.

Channel & Personnel Management:

  • Upload and publish content from cross-departmental business partners to our YouTube channels according to their needs and timing.
  • Manage and develop a Discover Universal Audio/Video Intern.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Broadcast, Advertising, Media Production, Digital Media, Public Relations, or Social Media is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, social media, digital media, podcasting, broadcast journalism, radio, production, content marketing, or digital communications;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.
