JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Infrastructure Architect is responsible for defining and governing enterprise infrastructure patterns across on-prem datacenters and public cloud. This role spans compute, storage, networking, virtualization/containers, IaaS/PaaS, and SaaS integrations, from bare metal through cloud-native, ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable designs. Partners with other teams to drive standardization and best practices around automation (IaC), zero-trust controls, monitoring/observability, backup/DR, and lifecycle/capacity planning; leads cost optimization and vendor/technology selection. The architect a part of the architecture review board and is responsible for reference architectures and roadmaps and enforce compliance to reference designs. The individual works with architecture and technology leadership to drive a global standardized infrastructure vision and roadmap. This leader must be able to inspire UDX culture.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Hybrid Infrastructure Architecture & Standards – Set and enforce reference architectures, patterns and guardrails across on-prem datacenters and public cloud compute (compute, storage, network, virtualization/containers, SaaS). Own the end-to-end stack, from bare metal and hypervisors to IaaS/PaaS and SaaS integrations.
- Platform Engineer, Performance & Automation – Drive Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management and pipeline-drive delivery. Partner with NBC Operations & Technology teams, and UDX infrastructure and DevOps teams to align on patterns, reference architectures and remove manual drift. Standardize performance baselines, load testing and tuning.
- Reliability, Observability & Continuity – Architect for availability, performance and scalability with clear SLOs, capacity planning and lifecycle management. Specify logging, metrics and tracing standards. Ensure backup/restore and DR strategies are in place and ensure operational excellence with runbooks.
- Capacity Planning, Governance & Roadmaps – Participate in architecture review board, maintain infrastructure technology roadmaps to support annual planning and long-range planning. Help reservations/savings plans and hardware refresh with demand curves. Partner with other teams to ensure cost modeling/FinOps is performed on new designs. Evaluate vendors and standardize on approved services to control sprawl and total cost of ownership.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, information technology or similar preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 9+ years in technology delivery and implementation.
- 7+ years’ experience in global/large scale/enterprise solution and platform development.
- 7+ years’ hands on experience with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) implementations.
- Extensive experience in front-end and back-end integration design.
- Extensive Experience in executive communication and collaboration.
- Experience in stakeholder and partner communication.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Extensive experience designing and deployment of cloud and on-prem infrastructure
- Experience evaluating architecture designs and making recommendations for infrastructure implementation, deployment and provisioning.
- Repeated experience with UML artifacts.
- A technical background with an understanding of high-level networks, routers, switches, firewalls, BGP, and SANs.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code deployments.
- Experience with capacity planning across cloud and on-prem infrastructure
- Experience with an architecture review board (ARB).
- Demonstrated ability with Cloud FinOps and cost modeling.
