Student Diversity & Inclusion is a department at the University of Delaware dedicated to creating services and spaces that make students feel closer to themselves, address their needs as individuals, and promote community oriented solutions to community issues.

Role Description:

Student Diversity and Inclusion is seeking two students who will act as Blue Hen Essentials Student Assistants. This position will be part of the team of folks facilitating our Food & Supply pantry and Clothing Coop services. Including, but not limited to, running, set up, organizing, and appointment facilitation of the services provided by Student Diversity & Inclusion. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• • Assist in the implementation of Blue Hen Essentials Services (Food & Supply Pantry, Clothing Coop and other basic needs services)

  • Aid in the inventory of the Blue Hen Essentials Services - collection, organization, and distribution 

  • Facilitate appointments throughout the active weeks of the Clothing Coop

  • Gather benchmarking information on national models for Blue Hen Essentials Services

  • Engage in marketing efforts for Blue Hen Essentials Services

  • Contribute to the creation of events/programming around Blue Hen Essentials Services 

  • Assist in the creation of programming that educates students, staff, and faculty about basic needs insecurity and advocacy for students experiencing these insecurities

  • Contribute ideas and new perspectives on building student engagement around the Blue Hen Essentials Services

  • Collect and gather information and resources from UD comparator institutions and external-to-UD organizations around needs based service marketing and communication 

  • Engage in assessment and research efforts, which may include marketing and promotion of surveys and data interpretation for Blue Hen Essentials Services

  • Serve as an ambassador for Student Diversity & Inclusion and participate in the general promotion of student success and engagement around diversity and inclusion

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:  

• Enrolled undergraduate student in good academic standing. 

• Ability to work with undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced financial and food insecurity, and emergencies.

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

• Proficient in Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Google Sheets.

• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

• Effective leadership, team building and collaboration skills.

• Skills in independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Engagement with diverse student populations and interests at UD.

• Demonstrated commitment and interest in campus climate and culture around diversity and inclusion. 

• Experience working with the Qualtrics Survey Platform

HIRING TIMELINE:

• Application opens March 3rd

• Interviews - in person and zoom - Start the first week of April after Spring break

• Folks will be notified of interview results by May 9th
