About the department / center:

The Center for Academic Success offers a variety of services and activities in collaboration with the efforts of other University offices to ensure a comprehensive set of academic support services for UD students. These services include academic advising, academic coaching, tutoring, and various programming initiatives to support students. Every undergraduate student can benefit from the academic support we offer to help develop the academic skills and strategies that will pave the way for future success.

Role Description:

The Center for Academic Success is seeking, responsible, motivated undergraduate students to assist with the front desk as the first point of contact, meeting and checking-in visitors

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greeting visitors and staff with a professional and courteous demeanor
  • Checking in all visitors and directing them as needed
  • Logging in appointments and informing the staff member of their arrival
  • Assisting visitors in the waiting room
  • Taking efficient messages and forwarding as needed
  • Addressing inquiries and providing accurate information to visitors
  • Checking-in students for drop-in tutoring and advising
  • Assisting staff members as needed
  • Ensuring the front desk and waiting area are clean, organized and presentable  
  • Sort and distribute mail and deliveries
  • Maintaining the poster board and removing outdated flyers and posters
  • Answering phones
  • Answering emails

Qualifications:  

  • Efficient communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Managing confidential documents securely and efficiently
  • Proficient in excel and google docs
