Role Description:
The Climate Change Science and Policy Hub seeks a communications intern for the 2025-2026 academic year. The intern will draft content (written, graphics, photo) for the website, newsletter, and social media platforms (LinkedIn and Instagram). The intern will coordinate with the College of Earth, Ocean and Environment communications professionals (via a weekly meeting) and will serve as the liaison between the College and the Hub. A flexible schedule of 5-8 hours per week, to be arranged by the intern and Hub Directors. Most of the work will be done virtually and independently. Weekly meetings, at a minimum, will be scheduled with the Directors and the CEOE communications team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Research, writing, and updating content for monthly newsletter and annual report.
- Developing written and graphic (photos and designs) content for social media (LinkedIn and Instagram) and Website content (e.g., events, student profiles, campus updates).
- Recruiting and aiding other Climate Hub-affiliated students in posting on social media platforms.
- Developing and updating contact lists for external communications.
- Writing scientific summaries (e.g., research announcements).
- Writing event summaries and graphics to post on UD Events Calendar.
- Developing presentation slides for university and community events.
- Creating and updating advertising materials (e.g., fliers, brochures).
Qualifications:
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Experience with LinkedIn and Instagram, and basic understanding of social media marketing and promotional strategies.
- Experience with Canva.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Interest in science communication is a plus.
- Knowledge of graphic design, social media campaigns, and marketing is a plus.
