About the Program
Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program designed to support 40 high school students in their preparation for college. The program serves students from diverse backgrounds and provides academic instruction, enrichment opportunities, and college readiness support in a structured residential setting.

What You’ll Do
Residential Life Duties
Resident Counselor & Tutors will be on-site Monday through Friday during the first 3-weeks of the program and will transition to a full residential (live-in) role in the residence halls for the final 3-weeks.
- Supervise 10-12 students in the residence hall and ensure safety at all times
- Enforce program rules, curfews, and community expectations
- Serve as a mentor, role model, and primary point of contact
- Lead and participate in evening and residential activities
- Respond to student concerns and assist with conflict resolution
- Be on call as part of the residential team
Academic Support (Tutoring)
- Provide individual and small group tutoring in assigned subject areas
- Assist students with homework, study strategies, and time management
- Support classroom instructors as needed
- Monitor and encourage academic progress
Program Support
- Attend staff meetings and required trainings
- Assist with program events, workshops, and field trips
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, tutoring logs, and incident reports

Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma required
- Strong academic background in core subject areas (Math, English, Science, etc.)
- Experience working with high school students or youth programs
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to live in the residence hall for the duration of the program
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience
- Experience in residential life or summer programs
- Familiarity with TRIO or Upward Bound programs
