About the department / center:
The Center for Experimental & Applied Economics (CEAE) at the University of Delaware conducts innovative research that explores decision-making, human behavior, and economic outcomes through laboratory and field experiments. CEAE collaborates with faculty, students, community organizations, and industry partners to address real-world challenges using data-driven research. The Center also provides undergraduate students with valuable hands-on research experience, professional development opportunities, and exposure to the research process in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Role Description:
As a research assistant with the Center for Experimental & Applied Economics, you will be expected to contribute in many ways to the research operations, student engagement, and community outreach that is conducted by our affiliated researchers and the executive leadership team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the CEAE Leadership team, Research Assistants will:
- Assist with data collection on research projects and field experiments.
- Support the reconciliation and tracking of research project and center expenditures by managing receipts, purchases, and financial records using SAP Concur and Google Workspace.
- Track participant payments and submit payments to experiment participants on affiliate research projects through the use of cash payments, UDExchange, and other participant payment incentive methods.
- Safeguard of the confidentiality of participants, as necessary.
- Provide support to the Leadership staff in submissions to granting agencies.
- Complete and stay updated on IRB training and requirements.
- Assists with the coordination, administration, and ongoing support of center-sponsored programs.
- Acquire equipment or supplies necessary for research projects and events.
- Prepare the lab for upcoming events and data gathering.
- Manage and respond to project and work-related emails.
- Prepare, maintain, and update website content in collaboration with the Program Manager.
- Assist with reports, publications, and presentations as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- All majors welcome!
- Current University of Delaware undergraduate, preferred sophomore
- Preferred cumulative GPA 3.0 student in good academic standing.
- Ability to work at least 10 - 15 hours per week, within our standard office hours of 8 - 5 pm
- Strong research interest focused on decision-making, human behavior, and economics.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Office and Canva.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
- Dependable, professional, and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to complete required research compliance and IRB training.
- Flexible and adaptable in supporting research projects, events, and administrative tasks.
