Role Description:

 

The Student Program Assistant will support the Partnership for Healthy Communities (PHC) in advancing initiatives that promote healthy, thriving communities throughout Delaware. This position provides hands-on experience in public health, community engagement, program coordination, communications, research translation, and event planning. The student will work closely with PHC staff, community partners, faculty, and students to support a variety of projects and statewide initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

Support outreach efforts with community organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, and nonprofit partners.

Assist with coordination of community events, workshops, and meetings.

Represent PHC at campus and community events.

Communications & Marketing:

Assist in developing newsletters, website content, and social media posts.

Create promotional materials for events and initiatives.

Support communication efforts related to the Delaware State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) and other PHC programs.

Help collect stories and examples that highlight community impact.

Research & Data Support:

Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans on public health topics.

Assist with data collection, organization, and basic analysis.

Support development of community health reports, dashboards, and presentations.

Help maintain records of program outcomes and performance measures.

Event Planning & Logistics:

Assist with planning and coordinating conferences, workshops, networking events, and trainings.

Support event registration, vendor coordination, room setup, and attendee communications.

Help prepare event materials and post-event evaluations.

Special Projects:

Contribute to PHC initiatives focused on health equity, public health workforce development, community health improvement, and academic-community partnerships.

Assist with special projects based on organizational needs and student interests.

Program & Administrative Support:

Assist with internal and external communications, including LinkedIn.

Maintain project files, contact databases, and tracking systems.

Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and briefing materials.

Qualifications:  

-Must be eligible for work-study.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills.

-Attention to detail and organizational abilities.

-Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
