Role Description:

The department of Theatre and Dance is seeking a responsible, motivated undergraduate student to assist with the paint department for the Resident Ensemble Players, UD’s professional equity theatre company. Hours are flexible and the atmosphere is relaxed. No previous theatre experience required, however, previous experience in technical theatre and/or knowledge of basic painting techniques and cleaning maintenance would be an asset.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initial prep on scenery, in the work shops, and in the theater (sanding, vacuuming, cleaning)
  • Basic paint on scenery (applying primer or base coats with brushes or rollers)
  • Clean up and maintenance of work and storage spaces (washing tools, buckets, shop cabinets and tables, clearing waste)
  • Organizing shelves and equipment storage
  • Inventory record keeping

Qualifications/Requirements:  

  • Must be work-study eligible
  • Must be able to work minimum of 2 hour shifts, Monday – Friday during the hours of 8am-3pm (exact days and times will be discussed during interview).
  • Requires ability to grasp, bend, lift, use basic hand tools, communicate effectively and respectfully.
  • There are opportunities to receive focused and advanced training in the skills and tools of technical theatre.
