A bit about the role

As a Senior Development Engineer you will help build Australia’s Most Liveable City through facilitating the development of engineering activities including the provision of expert assessments and advice; workflow management; stakeholder engagement; the attainment of service levels; and continuous improvement.

What you’ll deliver 

  • Technical Oversight & Assessment: Review and assess engineering documentation including plans for traffic, drainage, lighting, and environmental management, ensuring compliance with planning and development standards.
  • Referral & Proposal Evaluation: Conduct engineering assessments of town planning, subdivision, and building proposals, and respond to referrals with expert advice on development engineering matters.
  • Team & Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage daily work priorities within the team, support senior leaders, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve development issues collaboratively.
  • Delegated Authority & Advisory Support: Approve development engineering matters under Council’s Deed of Delegation and provide timely advice and support to managers and staff on technical issues.

What you’ll bring 

  • Registration as an Engineer in accordance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 by 1 October 2022 or willing to undertake any qualifications / training required to be registered as a Professional Engineer.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent Engineering Degree with relevant experience assessing development engineering proposals and providing written technical advice.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check
