About the Role
Join our high performing Revenue and Rating team in a hands on role supporting the effective delivery of statutory and operational obligations. You’ll provide high‑level administrative and operational support across all areas of the function, contributing to strong customer service outcomes and Council policy requirements.
Acting as a flexible team resource, you’ll support rates administration, debt recovery, and customer service activities as needed, while helping improve processes, data accuracy, and service delivery in a collaborative local government environment.
What You’ll deliver
- Support business-as-usual operations across Revenue and Rating, including peak periods and service continuity.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by providing accurate, clear, and professional rates and property information to customers and stakeholders.
- Administer revenue and rating functions, including pensioner concessions, ownership changes, name and address record maintenance, and property data updates in TechOne.
- Support financial operations such as daily banking, customer request management, duplicate rate notices, and maintenance of ratepayer and property records.
- Undertake debt recovery activities, including billing, repayment arrangements, legal recovery processes, liaison with solicitors, and maintaining compliant, accurate recovery records.
- Manage complex and sensitive customer matters with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgement, including hardship cases, escalations, and advising leadership on accounts requiring advanced recovery action.
- Work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and assisting across the Revenue and Rating function as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant qualification in business, finance, or a related field, or extensive equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Local Government revenue, rates, property and valuation administration, including special rates and Fire Services Levy (ESVF).
- Sound understanding of the Local Government Act 1989, Local Government Act 2020, and associated legislation relevant to revenue and rating functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, manage conflict, and build effective relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven commitment to service excellence, delivering customer‑focused, proactive, and efficient solutions aligned with organisational and stakeholder needs.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
