About the role 

We currently have an opportunity to act as the Manager Community Access and Support, commencing Thursday 14 August 2025 until Monday 13 October 2025 inclusive.

Reporting to the Director Connected Communities, the Manager Community Access and Support is an exciting senior leadership opportunity that leads a diverse portfolio of teams and services providing for Seniors, Young people, Disability inclusion and Short Term Support. You will oversee delivery of a range of responses to enhance independence, contribute to wellbeing, and foster community connection.

There are many exciting elements during this timeline including:

  • Biennial Youth Summit and annual Youth Fest
  • Recreation for All – Knox Inclusive Leisure and Recreation Expo
  • Dementia Action Week
  • Annual Seniors Festival
  • Transition of Meals on Wheels provider
  • New Aged Care Act and reforms preparation
  • Attendance at Knox Disability Advisory Committee, Knox Active Ageing Advisory Committee and Knox Youth Advisory Committee.

The Manager leads the following key functions:

  • Community Care Services
  • Social and Inclusive Services
  • Youth Services
  • Performance and Strategy Services.

This is a full-time temporary role based at the Knox Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met. 

Total Remuneration Package will be negotiated depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Specialist knowledge and extensive experience relevant to the management of community services
  • A record of achievement and excellence in people and volunteer leadership and management in a diverse, complex and political environment.
  • An experienced leader who leads by positive example with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and with influence, including the ability to understand and adapt to the audience to gain support and commitment by others
  • Knowledge of commercial/business principles, and a demonstrated ability to manage the competitive process and administration of contracts and facility operations
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and analytical attributes with the proven ability to identify and drive strategic direction, formulate strategies and plans to address organisational objectives that inspires a clear sense of purpose and direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce high quality reports and discussion papers to make formal presentations and to represent Council in professional and community forums.
  • Demonstrated skills in financial management, business management, community development and project management.
