About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Landscape Architect to join our Strategic Open Space Planning Team.

As our new Landscape Architect, you will be backfilling a maternity leave role in a temporary full time capacity and will be based at Knox Council's Civic Centre. 

Key responsibilities will include designing landscape designs in both streetscape and open space settings, leading community consultation processes, addressing customer service requests, investigating open space related matters and completing detailed documentation in preparation for the delivery phase. Working across the organisation and based in the Strategic Infrastructure Department, you will work closely with our delivery teams to deliver well developed innovative designs for the community and advise a range of internal and external stakeholders. The role also requires intermediate to advanced AutoCAD skills.  

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be at $95,488.69 - $104,288 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance ith the Superannuation Guarantee. 

We also support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Ability to prepare high quality landscape design concepts, masterplans, landscape plans, cost estimates, working drawings, specifications and work plans which meet organisational objectives.

  • Ability to manage and motivate both internal and external staff, volunteers and landscape contractors to achieve high standards of landscape works.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with others with clarity and diplomacy.

  • Demonstrated experience in project management delivering quality design outcomes.

  • Ability to organise and deliver community consultation processes.

  • Strong customer service focus and ability to deal with enquiries and complaints.

  • Strong graphic skills and experience in Autocad and graphic software.
