About the role
Knox City Council is currently recruiting for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our Chief Information Office in a full-time fixed term contract opportunity (until November 2026) reporting to the Head of Cyber Security.
This is a hands-on role, where you’re expected to be proficient in configuring & managing security tools like Microsoft Defender, Intune, Group Policy, and Active Directory in addition to being proficient in general Cyber Security themes such as email security and incident management.
The Cyber Security Analyst will assist in the building and maintenance of our Cyber Security infrastructure, platforms, tools and be a champion of good cyber hygiene for our people. This role will also participate in incident investigation, identification of areas for improvement, make contributions to projects and will stay abreast of new Cyber Security technologies and capabilities whilst maintaining a good network within the Cyber environment within both Government and Private Enterprise.
This is a full-time temporary role (until November 2026) based at the Knox Civic Centre in Wantirna South; requiring at least three (3) days per week in the office. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 7 classified role. Remuneration will be $110,732.77 - $124,189.64 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Demonstrated hands-on technical skills in a variety of applications and infrastructure, including Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune, Defender and endpoint security concepts.
- Work with project teams to identify security controls relevant to projects, ensuring compliance with governance, frameworks, and best practices.
- Articulate the impacts of changes on the monitoring, maintenance, and operation of cyber security systems and their effectiveness.
- A sound understanding of firewalling, networking, application gateway, Mobile Device Management is an advantage.
- Have a keen eye for security deficiencies in the configuration and architecture of information systems, networks, and security tooling.
