About the role  

We have an exciting opportunity for a Multicultural Partnerships Officer to join our Community Partnerships and Inclusion team, part of the Community Strengthening Department within the Connected Communities Directorate. 

In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of initiatives through Council’s Culturally Diverse Communities Portfolio, working in close partnership with culturally diverse communities, service providers and internal Council teams. You will play a key role in strengthening inclusion across Knox by supporting access to information, services and programs, building organisational capability, and ensuring culturally diverse communities have meaningful opportunities to lead, contribute and participate in community life. 

Reporting to the Coordinator Community Partnerships and Inclusion, you will work collaboratively across Council and with external stakeholders to progress strategies, policies, events and advocacy that improve equity, social justice and wellbeing outcomes. This includes coordinating major celebrations and initiatives such as Cultural Diversity Week and Refugee Week, supporting sector networking, coordinating the Knox Multicultural Advisory Committee, and contributing to regional and statewide forums.   
 
This is a temporary part-time (0.6EFT, 12 month) role based at the Knox Civic Centre in Wantirna South. We support flexible and hybrid working arrangements while ensuring operational needs are met. 

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $98,353.35 to $107,416.64, pro rata (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role   

The key accountabilities for this role include: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of a broad range of culturally diverse community groups including an understanding of key issues.  

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and partnerships with culturally diverse communities and networks.  

  • Demonstrated understanding of social justice principles as related to community development practice.  

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a variety of community engagement activities and events with community members, utilising collaborative practice.  

  • Project management and strategic community planning experience.  

  • Excellent interpersonal, report writing, computer and oral communication skills.  

  • Demonstrated commitment to displaying the organisation’s values.  

  • Bi-lingual skills are an advantage.
