Position Summary: Oversee the Center's activities and ensure Science Resource Center (SRC) services are provided to students.

Required Qualifications:

  • First-level manager.
  • Manages the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors.
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
  • Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of the software systems used in the center such as Penji, Accucampus and other systems.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree preferred.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage tutoring requests by matching student needs and arranging schedules with the appropriate tutor in a timely manner. Follow up with students who miss appointments and provide options for rescheduling. Manage the scheduling calendar and notify students and tutors of cancellations and schedule changes. Oversee requests for semester-long tutoring referrals from faculty and maintain accurate and detailed records following Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines. 
  • Manage SRC resources by updating the inventory of all items such as textbooks, anatomical models, microscopes, educational games, lab kits, lab coats, goggles, and calculators every semester, identifying the need for new/replacement items, training administrative assistants with the checkout/in process for SRC resources, keeping track of items that are checked out of the center including overdue items, barcoding new items and entering them into the checkout system. 
  • Support the growth of the Center by identifying existing issues and areas of growth and working with the director to develop solutions and changes in the Center's services to better serve the changing needs of students and faculty. 
  • Schedule topic review sessions throughout the semester, share the sign-up link with the concerned faculty, make sure the tutor conducting the review session has all the necessary resources, and manage and record student attendance.
  • Work with faculty to coordinate collaborative activities. Maintain lab supplies for online labs, reserve classrooms in SRC for instruction, retrieve microscopes serviced, manage inventory of returning lab kits, etc. 
  • Ensure the SRC space is welcoming for students. Provide assistance in checking out models and books and abide by the policies of the center.
  • Submit work orders for the center, such as updating the tutor schedule on the webpage and Canvas Learning Management System webpage, maintenance work for fixing broken items, obtaining access to software systems for new tutors, etc. 
  • Assist in planning and organizing SRC & Academic Resource Center (ARC) promotional activities/events such as Welcome Week and Science Week by collaborating with SRC staff and other center coordinators.
  • Assist the Director of the SRC in special projects and new initiatives by providing relevant data and other needed resources. 
  • Provide leadership for the SRC when the Director is unavailable, ensuring the smooth functioning of Center activities. 
  • Supervision of SRC Staff – Hires and supervises SRC staff through observations, training, and performance appraisals. Reviews payroll documents and manages records. Complies with JCCC hiring practices and procedures.
