Position Summary: Lead, plan, and implement an Early Childhood education program for the Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC) for a designated group of young children to support a positive learning environment for college students.
Required Qualifications:
- Career-level professional within the field. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.
- Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment.
- Requires an Associate's Degree and 2-4+ years’ of relevant experience.
- Must complete 16 hours of Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) approved in-service hours.
- Required certifications and pre-employment verifications: Active Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR, Health Assessment and TB Test,
- Child Development, Signs and Symptoms of Illness, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporting, Fingerprint Based Background Check. (HCDC will assist in obtaining required certifications within the first 30 days of employment)

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Engage with the children; teach, change diapers, and potty train, lead group and outside time, set up meals, conduct rest time, and lead social play activities.
- Perform light cleaning after activities and meals.
- Uphold and follow all HCDC, Kansas Department of Health and Environment childcare licensing, the Child and Adult Federal Food Program regulations, and National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation requirements.
- Responsible for duties of Classroom Supervisor in their absence, including supervision and instruction of JCCC students, assistant teachers, aides, and substitute teachers.
- Write and post lesson plans weekly, following the HCDC curriculum and learning needs of children.
- Develop and establish reciprocal relationships with families; greet families on arrival and departure, maintain daily information for each child, and conduct parent/teacher conferences.
- Maintain a positive and professional work environment with colleagues and families.
- Remain current on Early Childhood Education trends and best practices.
- Track and record educational and developmental observations for each child and share with parents to create milestones and goals.
