Position Summary: Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is seeking a full-time faculty member in our Psychology Department. The faculty in the department teach courses in Introduction to Psychology, Applied Psychology, Child Development, Human Development, Social Psychology, Health Psychology, Human Sexuality, Educational Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods. These courses are the foundation for students preparing for careers in psychology, education, nursing, allied health care, business, and other social sciences. Many of our students transfer to four-year programs in psychology. JCCC has created partnerships with many colleges and universities to allow students a nearly seamless transfer program on their path to earning a degree quickly and affordably.
The individual selected for this position will have a proven record of success in the classroom and in supporting students at all levels of ability and who are from diverse backgrounds. They will teach fifteen credit hours each semester in a combination of courses that may include Introductory Psychology, Child Development, Human Development, Statistics, Research Methods, and other courses that align with the candidate’s qualifications. The individual will teach face-to-face and online courses, hold weekly office hours, and perform other duties expected of a full-time faculty member. These duties may include sponsoring Student Life activities such as the Psychology Club and/or Active Minds clubs; developing new courses; informal advising of current and new students; coordinating departmental special events on and off-campus; and collaboration with other psychology faculty in all aspects of departmental business, such as program reviews; assessment development, implementation, and evaluation; staffing; and curriculum design. Participation in division and college-wide activities and committee work is an essential component of this position.
Johnson County Community College's priority is student learning and success. This learning and success depends on caring, knowledgeable faculty who are skilled in course delivery, instruction, and assessment. JCCC offers extensive support for new full-time faculty with LENS, a year-long new faculty orientation program to acquaint them with institutional history, culture, procedures, and instructional issues. Individual mentoring with an experienced faculty member and group mentoring through the Peer Review Committee are also provided in the first three years of service. Continuing education and development are available for faculty at all levels of their professional careers.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Psychology.
- Strong academic background in general psychology, child or human development OR statistics and research design.
- College teaching experience in both face-to-face and online teaching environments.
- Previous experience with a learning management system.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain supportive relationships with first-generation college students and with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- College teaching experience in both face-to-face and online teaching environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in psychology.
- Minimum of three years previous college teaching experience.
- Minimum of one year of community college teaching experience.
- Prior understanding and use of the Canvas Learning Management system.
