Position Summary:

The Electrical Principal Instructor is responsible for the training and supervision of students during the Electrical apprenticeship program and working with the teachers to ensure quality training. This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, exceptional skills assessment, classroom/instructor evaluation, and curriculum facilitation. The Principal Instructor will also ensure effective utilization of resources, including supplies and classroom management.

 

Essential Functions:

• Deliver the approved course of study for Electrical as outlined in the syllabus, maintaining a student oriented approach to education.
• Prepare and/or gather current instructional materials/equipment and use required technological equipment and methods for delivery.
• Ensure that all program activities and personnel follow CWI Workforce Development, State of Idaho, and any national guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Evaluate teaching effectiveness and classroom quality/fidelity through observation and written, oral and practical feedback, ensuring that what is taught is what is evaluated.
• Become proficient in the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and classroom instructional methodologies (hyflex, asynchronous etc.). Train other instructors on modalities as requested.
• Work with Electrical/WD Director to manage efficient use of program supplies and to present all supply requisitions in a timely fashion.
• Work with the Electrical Program Coordinator/WD Director to facilitate and manage the correction of any program and/or classroom deficiencies.
• Respond to, report, manage, and resolve classroom, teacher, and student issues according to CWI and appropriate clinical site policies/procedures.
• Teach courses, provide skills assessments at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional and partner needs, including evenings to meet a diverse course schedule for all students.
• Support Electrical curriculum and program optimization
• Conveys by words and actions the values expected by CWI.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Either possess a current Electrical Journeyman License from the State of Idaho or have the ability to obtain within two years of starting the position.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field or equivalent combination of education/certificate and work-related experience.
• Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner.
• Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the training courses mentioned above.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in the use of a laptop computer, Microsoft office, and other equipment.
• Ability to be flexible with certain days when needed to teach/provide evaluation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
